Today was the day to straighten out the problems that had developed with my site, probably due to DreamWeaver software. I decided to change the hosting, and go with something simple. Now people won't get different views of my site with each browser they use, and things will stay where I put them in the first place. What a concept!
I still need to figure out why the "subscribe" button isn't working for this blog, though.
I like the slideshow feature on my new site, and I still need to finish up the site by posting my testimonials. (Although, if you Google "Marneycakes testimonials", you'll get lots.)
I met with a wonderful wedding planner this morning. Her name is Karen, and she is the owner of Aleximani Events. I brought her a sample cake, and we sat and shared what we do for our clients. She mentioned that she has a lot of Caribbean brides, and lots of requests for black cake as wedding cake. Thankfully, I do black cake, and I let her know! She said she's getting me her mother-in-law's black cake recipe, which has evidently been passed down from some old Jamaican ladies...it's the real deal, and she says it's outrageously world-class delicious and aromatic. This version calls for boiling then pureeing the fruit, so there are no chunky pieces in the cake (so it doesn't have the texture of a fruitcake). Oooh, that black cake smells like heaven, and I'd love to be doing lots of those as wedding cakes!
Bring on the Jamaican brides!
